This research study aims to get to know values that designers of autonomous technologies for use in Australian defence should take into account when designing such technologies. Aligning values that are embedded in autonomous technologies with societal values is important for societal support and responsible use of such technologies.
This research consists of four parts of around 20 minutes in total:
- A few questions on your position on Australia's defence.
- A design task where we ask you to choose design features of an autonomous submarine (10 minutes).
- A second design task where we ask you to choose design features of a drone (5 minutes).
- Some additional survey questions (2 minutes).
